"When and how does transference interpretation work? Results from a 30-year research program" with Per Høglend, MD, PhD

Dr. Høglend will discuss the application of his work to psychoanalysis proper and compare the evidence base of psychodynamic psychotherapy with other evidence-based psychotherapies.

New York Psychoanalytic Society & Institute
    247 East 82nd Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenues)
The Marianne & Nicholas Young Auditorium

Per Høglend, MD, PhD is Professor of Psychiatry at Oslo University. He is a leading authority on the empirical study of long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy. His particular interest is in the study of transference interpretation. He has studied its effect on object relations and on the therapeutic alliance. He shows that it is possible to study what we do. His work helps give long-term psychodynamic psychotherapy an evidence base, so badly needed.
