This academic year we have had a rich array of lectures on topics of great interest to psychoanalysis:
Rodolfo Llinas - On Self and Self Awareness
The "Conscious Id" Revisited - A Panel Discussion with Heather Berlin, Jaak Panksepp and Mark Solms
David Garfield and Richard Lane - Becoming Aware of Feelings: Integration of Cognitive-Developmental, Neuroscientific and Psychoanalytic Perspectives
Katerina Fotopoulou - The "Body-in-Relation" Self: Psychodynamic and Neural Mechanisms of Joined Salience
Uri Hasson - The fMRI of Dyadic Communication
Zoran Josipovic - Finding Nonduality: Meditation in light of neuroscience and modern psychology
Converging themes included awareness, consciousness and the unconscious, and the self in relation to the other. Much food for thought, relevant both theoretically and clinically! We will have an open discussion to raise additional questions, synthesize ideas, apply insights to clinical practice or enrich the interpretation of neuroscience findings by clinical perspectives, and more.
