Course Description

This course will trace the gradual shift in clinicians’ interest from Oedipal to Preoedipal issues. Problems of symbolization, representation and object relations will be discussed and clinical examples will illustrate the complexity of the issues.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to

1) identify the manifestations of Preoedipal issues
2) locate subtle clinical manifestations
3) identify subtle disturbances in sense of self which can reveal early pathology
4) devise new techniques to deal with these issues
