Elucidating the Transference Using the Child’s Dream
ADVANCED SEMINAR IN CHILD AND ADOLESCENT ANALYSIS: Elucidating the Transference Using the Child’s Dream
Thursday, December 14, 2017
8:00 pm
Presenter: Ruth Karush, M.D.
There is generally wide acceptance that transference develops in child and adolescent psychoanalytic treatments. The interpretation of the transference is an important aspect of our technique, leading to both insight and clinical improvement. This paper uses vignettes to demonstrate how interpretation of a child’s dreams may help the analyst and the young patient understand the patient’s feelings about the analyst, and may ultimately provide the patient with transformative insights regarding the important people in his life.
2 CME/CE credits offered.
Child and Adolescent candidates are expected to attend.
Dr. Karush has published articles on the topics of dreams and aggression as related to child analysis. She was recognized in 2006 with The Charles Brenner Award for Contributions to Psychoanalytic Education.
