Tuesday, June 27, 2023 | 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm EST

Moderators: David Goldenberg, M.D. and Meredith Wong, M.D.

This event is open to NYPSI members/students and HFI community members/candidates only.

Held virtually on ZOOM. Registration required to receive ZOOM link.

In honor of Pride & Juneteenth, the NYPSI Committee on Racial Consciousness and the Diversities (CRCD) is hosting a movie discussion for our community. We’ll come together on Zoom on Tuesday, June 27th at 8 pm to have a conversation about the thought- provoking film Paris Is Burning (1990). This influential, critically acclaimed and criticized documentary presents a moving and multi-faceted portrayal of the complex world of the Black & Latinx queer drag ballroom scene in 1980’s New York City.

Please watch the film ahead of the event and bring your thoughts, reactions, and insights. It is available for streaming on HBO Max, Amazon Prime, and other platforms.

We listed a couple of readings below to enrich the discussion. They include criticism of and historical context for the film. Please note these are not mandatory to attend and enjoy this event.

Come join us!

David Goldenberg and Meredith Wong (Co-chairs of CRCD) and the Members of CRCD
